The Moorhead Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that stemmed from a physical altercation. MPD reports that its officers responded to the 1000 block of 14 Street South for gunshots.

Authorities say two parties exchanged gunfire during the incident. Around 7:10 p.m. on August 7, 2024, MPD officers responded to reports of gunshots. At the scene, officers learned that two parties had exchanged gunfire.

MPD believes two parties known to each other were involved in a property dispute at a residence in the 1000 block of 14 Street South. The dispute turned into a physical altercation.

One subject began to leave in a vehicle and an exchange of gunfire occurred between an individual in the vehicle and an individual at the residence. The party that left the scene in the vehicle called 911 to report the shooting.

The vehicle was found in the 3000 block of 20 Street South. Officers detained two adult males at the vehicle. At the residence, one adult male was detained. MPD says it is interviewing all three.

No injuries have been reported from the gunfire. Some property damage occurred due to stray bullets. Police believe they have recovered the firearms used in the shooting.
