Gaithersburg, Maryland – Detectives with the Montgomery Department of Police are currently investigating a scam involving Poshmark. According to an MCPD statement, detectives believe there could be more victims.
On September 7, 2024, a victim reported that their bank card had been fraudulently used to purchase an order online from Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Detectives say they tracked the package from Dick’s to a different recipient. In a statement, detectives said that the item was purchased on Poshmark from seller “@Valdez310” and it had been sent from Dick’s.
Detectives allege that the original victim’s bank card was used to buy the item from Dick’s. The suspect passed it off as a Poshmark item.
Detectives further allege that the Poshmark seller @valdez310 had been using stolen credit card information to list and sell fraudulent orders on Poshmark.
