The Collierville Police Department says a suspect is dead following an encounter with law enforcement. Around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, CPD officers received a report from a concerned family member saying a relative had gone missing.

The family member had previously been a victim of an aggravated assault on August 30. The suspect in that case had warrants issued. Later in the evening around 6:30 p.m., officers found the suspect in a vehicle with the missing family member near South Street and Sycamore.

The family member exited the vehicle. The suspect moved into the driver’s seat and allegedly rammed an occupied patrol vehicle which was disabled. The suspect fled on South Street but lost control near Suggs Park. The vehicle veered off the road and crashed into three parked cars.

The suspect was transported to Regional One where they later passed away. No one else was injured in the incident.
