On December 9, 2023, the Tampa Police Department issued an alert for a missing 72-year-old woman. TPD said Miriam Nordlinger walked away from her residence in the 1500 block of South Arrawana Avenue and had not returned. Today, authorities say divers with the Tampa Police Department recovered the body of a deceased adult female from the waters off Ballast Point.

In a social media post, the Tampa Police Department identified the woman as Miriam Nordlinger. The investigation is in the early stages, but TPD says there is nothing to suggest foul play. Chief Lee Bercaw made a statement about the discovery.

“The thoughts of the entire department are with the Nordlinger family. This is not the outcome we had hoped for. We appreciate the concern of the community and media who helped bring awareness to the search and ask that you keep the family in your thoughts.”
