Miami-Dade, Florida – The Miami-Dade Police Department has announced the arrest of Jose Reynaldo Martinez Reyes for allegedly kidnapping a six-year-old boy.
Authorities say the victim and his older brother were playing soccer in front of their residence around 2:30 p.m. on December 28, 2024.
The victim’s brother went inside to use the restroom. Police say Reyes approached the victim and offered to play soccer with him.
After befriending the victim, Reyes allegedly lured him away from the residence by promising to buy him a toy. Once the brother noticed the boy was gone, he and a family friend began searching for him.
Police say they located the victim and the subject over a mile away from the residence walking along the roadway hand in hand. When the victim’s brother confronted Reyes, it is alleged that Reyes claimed the boy was his child.
A physical struggle ensued. The victim’s brother managed to grab the boy and put him into a waiting vehicle. Police were called and found the subject detained. Detectives say Reyes had no familial ties with the victim.
According to police, the incident happened around NW 13th Avenue and 79th Street.
