A 22-year-old Nashua, New Hampshire woman has been arrested for DWI following an accident in Merrimack. The Merrimack Police Department reports that officers were informed of a motor vehicle accident on Tinker Road around 5:51 p.m. on June 6.
MPD was informed that one of the drivers failed to stop and fled the scene. The other party followed the vehicle and provided officers with the vehicle’s location. Officers found the vehicle in question on Continental Boulevard.
MPD says the vehicle initially failed to stop but eventually stopped on Continental Boulevard near Camp Sargent Road. Officers contacted the driver, 22-year-old America Alcaraz, who allegedly showed signs of impairment.
Alcaraz was taken into custody and transported to the Merrimack Police Department for processing. MPD believes Alcaraz attempted to pass a vehicle unlawfully on Tinker Road and sideswiped the vehicle before leaving the scene.
The vehicle pulled into a driveway on Peaslee Road, hit a rock wall, and left that scene too. MPD claims Alcaraz had a breath alcohol concentration more than twice the legal limit. Alcaraz was charged with Disobeying a Police Officer, Conduct After an Accident, Aggravated DWI, DWI, and Reckless Driving.
