A social media post from the Memphis Police Department reveals that a man has been arrested in connection to a shooting on November 28, 2023. Authorities say that officers were flagged down regarding a shooting at East Parkway and Poplar Avenue around 1:39 PM on November 28, 2023. Officers were informed that a 9-year-old female was struck by gunfire while traveling in a vehicle with her mother and two other juveniles.

The suspect was reportedly the mother’s boyfriend who fled the scene in a blue Hyundai sedan. A warrant was issued for Calbert Shaw-Reed for four counts of Aggravated Assault, Attempted First-Degree Murder, and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun. On December 1 around 11:30 AM, the Memphis Police Department and SCS Fugitive Teams located Shaw-Reed in the 200 block of North Waldron Street.

 

Police say a weapon was recovered. The 28-year-old is charged with Aggravated Assault and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun. He had additional warrants for Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun and Petition to Revoke a Suspended Sentence.
