Update – Memphis Police confirm the third occupant of the stolen vehicle has passed away.
Original – The Memphis Police Department reports that one of its officers was injured during a crash following a police chase. MPD says its officers responded to a call of subjects involved in criminal activity in the 6300 block of Global Drive around 5:03 p.m. on November 7.
Police say officers witnessed the subject vehicle, a stolen black Chrysler 300, and attempted to stop it, but the suspects fled. According to MPD, the suspect vehicle struck multiple vehicles in the area of Hickory Hill Road and Knight Arnold Road.
Four individuals were transported to local hospitals with non-critical injuries. MPD says the stolen vehicle crashed into a pole and the two occupants were pronounced deceased at the scene.
One was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Police also say one officer was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition. The Tennessee Highway Patrol will conduct the investigation.
