Memphis Police arrest woman in Church’s Chicken homicide

The Memphis Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to a shooting at the Church’s Chicken at 2963 Park Avenue. MPD says officers responded to the restaurant around 9:10 p.m. on July 8, 2024 for a shooting.

A female victim was transported to Regional One Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. MPD alleges the woman was working in the business when a woman with purple hair pulled up to the drive-thru and argued with the victim.

The suspect drove off in a teal-colored SUV. The victim walked outside to get some air. A few moments later, a gunshot was heard and the SUV was seen speeding away from the parking lot.

Around 7:12 a.m. on July 9, 2024, the suspect’s vehicle was found in the 2600 block of Deadrick and towed to the city lot. MPD says Monica Williams was identified as the suspect. The 45-year-old is charged with First-Degree Murder.
