The Memphis Police Department says it has arrested two Young Mob gang members for attempted murder, including one calling himself “Stupid Duke”. Around 7:30 p.m. on May 13, 2023, MPD officers responded to a shooting at Tug’s Casual Grill at 51 Harbor Town Square.
At the scene, MPD says the officers discovered that the suspects attempted to rob a victim. The victim had fired multiple shots at one of the suspects. The suspects fled in a black Nissan Altima.
A short time later, the Altima arrived at a fire station and Rodenick Winston was left there to die. He was later pronounced deceased at an area hospital. Authorities claim that Young Mob members Brian Lackland, “Stupid Duke”, and Paul Nelson were responsible.
The men were indicted on August 29, 2024. 34-year-old Lackland is charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder, and Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon.
31-year-old Paul Nelson is charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder, and Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon. Both men are in custody.
