Memphis Police announces charges against 23-year-old for Friday shooting on Germantown

The Memphis Police Department has announced an arrest in a shooting earlier today. According to MPD, officers responded to a report of a shooting at 577 North Germantown around 2:15 p.m. on March 22, 2024. At the scene, an adult male victim was found and transported to an area hospital.

The victim remains in critical condition. A known male suspect fled the area in a black Mazda SUV. In a later update, MPD said 23-year-old Tamarris Hopkins had been arrested. Hopkins is charged with Criminal Attempt 2nd Degree Murder, two counts of Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment, and Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
