The Marquette Police Department has provided an update on the incident at the City Hall on Monday. According to MPD, a male entered the lower level of the city hall and asked to speak with a police officer. While waiting for an officer to arrive, the man allegedly confronted a civilian with a handgun. After the civilian left, the man approached the police department front window again and confronted officers with the handgun.
The City Hall was evacuated and a perimeter was set up. Following 90 minutes of conversation, the man was eventually disarmed by officers. MPD said a loaded handgun was recovered. The man was transported to UPHS-Marquette for evaluation.
The man and one police officer received minor injuries. The officer did not seek medical attention.
