The Marion Police Department reports that it is investigating a shooting that injured two people on Sunday morning. MPD says dispatch received calls about shots fired in the area of 34th and Felton Street around 1:47 a.m. on Sunday.
Authorities say officers found several spent shell casings in the area of 34th and Boots Street and in the 3400 block of South Felton Street. Marion Health reportedly notified MPD that two gunshot victims had arrived at the hospital.
MPD says 21-year-old Evealynn Alvarze suffered a graze wound to the back of her head and 32-year-old Jerome Greer Jr. suffered cuts from glass on his left shoulder. Authorities say witnesses say an argument started inside Big H Sports Bat at 3022 South Washington Street.
Police believe the victims were followed by other individuals from the bar and the shooting occurred about four blocks away. During the incident, the vehicle the victims were in was struck multiple times. Police also say houses in the neighborhood were hit by stray rounds.
The victims were treated and released.
