The Marion County Sheriff’s Department announced it is investigating a death in the Valley Springs community. Around 8 p.m. on December 22, 2023, a deputy took a missing person report from an individual living in the Valley Springs community adjacent to Marion County 5026, Shawnee Cave Road.

Around 11 p.m., deputies responded to the same residence after receiving a call from a woman who reported her daughter, who was reported missing previously, was unresponsive in a bedroom. Marion County Sheriff’s Department investigators responded to the scene where they found an adult female deceased.

Investigators conducted interviews and processed the scene. The Marion County Coroner’s Office responded and took custody of the body. The body will be transferred to the Medical Examiner’s Section of the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
