Man dies after crashing stolen motorcycle in Spokane Washington

A man is dead after crashing a stolen motorcycle. The Spokane Police Department says its officers responded to the area of Julie and Queen following a call for a single motorcycle crash around 1:50 p.m. on May 21, 2024.

A passerby witnessed a motorcycle sliding across the roadway and saw a person down in the road. The witness saw a person with severe trauma. At the scene, officers and Spokane Fire and ARM attended to the injured driver.

The male was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Based on the initial information, SPD believes the motorcycle was traveling north on Rebecca as the road begins an S-shaped turn near Queen. The driver lost control and crashed.

It is believed that excess speed was a factor. Officers later discovered that the motorcycle was reported stolen. The name of the deceased male is not being released at this time.
