The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fatal shooting at the Porterdale Bar and Grill. NCSO reports that it received a request from the Porterdale Police Department to investigate a shooting at the bar and grill around 9 and 9:30 p.m. on July 27, 2024.

The investigation is ongoing at this time. NCSO investigators say they identified the victim as 68-year-old Kyle Fowler of Covington. Fowler succumbed to his injuries yesterday. 34-year-old William Brown was arrested in connection to the shooting.

Brown is charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault, Murder, and Possession of a Firearm or Knife during the Commission of or Attempt to Commit Certain Crimes. No other details are available at this time.
