The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a suspect who shot at two victims in the Elkmont Rural Village Community. Deputies met with two victims on December 21, 2023 and learned they had been shot at early Thursday morning on Bob Jones Parkway. A projectile was recovered from the driver’s door of the vehicle. Three spent shell casings were recovered at the scene.
Authorities collected security video that captured the shooting. Investigators and deputies began searching for the suspect vehicle. It was located in the 18000 block of Valley Lane on December 22, 2023. The owner, Jeremy Lee Patterson, had allegedly tried to alter the vehicle to cover up identifying damage with tape and removing his toolboxes.
During an interview, authorities say Patterson admitted to the shooting. He allegedly told authorities that he saw a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood and decided to investigate without calling law enforcement. Patterson approached the vehicle and pulled nose-to-nose with it. His bright lights blinded the victims.
The victims who lived in the neighborhood drove around Patterson who chased them and nearly rammed their vehicle. When the victims fled down a dead-end road, Patterson parked and waited for them. When the victims exited, Patterson got out of his truck and used his hood to brace his firearm.
Then, he allegedly fired three rounds at the victims. The driver’s door of the victim’s vehicle was struck once. The victims fled to Tennessee as Patterson chased them up Highway 127. Once they lost Patterson, they returned to Alabama to report the crime. 46-year-old Jeremy Lee Patterson was arrested for Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle. He was booked into the Limestone County Jail.
