The Riverside Police Department has announced an arrest after the body of a murder victim was found buried in a backyard. RPD says its officers responded to a home in the 8700 block of Sylvan Drive for reports that a resident had not been heard or seen from for several days.
Authorities say one of the occupants made statements claiming to have killed his roommate. The occupant was detained and the property allegedly revealed a possible crime scene in the backyard.
RPD says its Robbery – Homicide Unit responded alongside Riverside Sheriff’s cadaver canines. Authorities say the dogs alerted to freshly disturbed soil in the backyard. RPD says detectives began digging in the area and uncovered human remains.
48-year-old Richard Thomas Martinez has been arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for murder. Authorities say the victim has been identified as 31-year-old Bradley Minder.
RPD believes the victim and suspect were roommates. Authorities say the suspect killed Bradley Minder during an altercation and buried his body in the backyard of their home.
