The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has announced an arrest in today’s homicide. On March 7, 2024, MCSO deputies responded to a call regarding a deceased male at 1790 Capshaw Road in the Harvest community. At the scene, responding deputies found a deceased male inside the dwelling.

Detectives say the deceased male has been identified as 54-year-old Derek Franklin Walls. Detectives have arrested and charged 36-year-old Kyle Hayden Lewter with his murder. MCSO says it appears there was a physical altercation which resulted in the death of Derek Walls. The men were known to each other.

Lewter was transported to jail where he is being held without the possibility of bond.
