The Lynchburg Police Department has arrested a man following a pursuit of a stolen vehicle. LPD reports that it received an alert of a stolen Volvo sedan in the area of Timberlake Road around 11:26 a.m. on May 28, 2024.
Officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of Koto Japanese Steakhouse on Wards Road. Officers approached the vehicle when the driver abandoned it and fled on foot. The suspect, 38-year-old Arthur Leroy Gibson, allegedly stole an unoccupied, running Dodge Pickup with a utility trailer and fled.
Officers pursued the stolen vehicle until it crashed on 29 North near Odd Fellows Road. Gibson was taken into custody without incident. He is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.
Gibson is charged with Grand Larceny, Unauthorized Use, Obstruction of Justice, Driving with a Revoked License, Felony Eluding, Driving under the Influence, and Reckless Driving. LPD says an outstanding unrelated capias was also served.
