Louisiana State Police troopers worked a fatal collision involving three vehicles on I-10, west of LA Hwy 397 in Calcasieu Parish. Following a preliminary investigation, troopers determined a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado heading east on Interstate 10 veered to the right and off the highway, striking a flatbed semi-trailer parked on the shoulder. When the Chevrolet traveled back into the eastbound lanes, it was hit by a 2022 Volvo semi-truck traveling east.

The Chevrolet sustained extensive damage. The driver, identified as Garrett Wayne Smith of Sulphur, Louisiana, was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
