Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal carjacking in Sterling

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fatal carjacking that claimed the life of a 54-year-old Silver Spring resident. LCSO reports that it is investigating a fatal carjacking that occurred on Sunday in Sterling.

Around 11:39 a.m. on July 28, deputies responded to the 21000 block of Towncenter Plaza for a reported carjacking. The victim and owner, 54-year-old Melody Waldecker, was struck by the vehicle as the suspect was fleeing from the scene.

The victim was pronounced deceased. LCSO confirms a suspect has been arrested and there is no ongoing threat to the public. No other details are available at this time.
