Update – The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has provided an update on a deputy shooting. LACSD said Deputy Aispuro was shot near the intersection of Barranca Street and North Garvey Avenue in West Covina around 2:45 p.m. on April 22, 2024.
At the time, the deputy was in full uniform and was stopped at a red light while driving a Sheriff’s Department motorcycle. Aispuro was in the area attending department training. After being shot, Aispuro was able to radio for help and provide a possible vehicle of interest described as a four-door white sedan with tinted windows. The vehicle headed westbound on the 10 freeway.
Aispuro was rushed to Pomona Valley Hospital where he is listed in stable condition. The bullet did not penetrate his bulletproof vest. It is not known what led up to the shooting. Anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting is asked to contact Homicide Bureau Detectives at 323-890-5500.
Original – This evening, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy was shot in the back while sitting on his motorcycle at an intersection. Authorities are attempting to identify and apprehend the suspect who is still on the run. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post that 43-year-old deputy Samuel Aispuro was shot in the back while sitting on his motorcycle at an intersection in West Covina.
The deputy was rushed to an area hospital where he is in stable condition. The suspect is on the run. No additional details are available at this time.
