Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigating fatal shooting of Hispanic male on Metro bus

A Hispanic man was fatally shot in Los Angeles County, California on Thursday. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating. LASD reports that its Homicide Investigators are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of a Hispanic man.

Around 4:50 p.m., East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station and Transit Services Bureau deputies responded to the 6100 block of Slauson Avenue in Commerce for a report of a gunshot victim at the location.

At the scene, deputies found the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside a Metro public transportation bus. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

LASD says the victim was a passenger at the time of the shooting. Deputies report that the Metro bus was traveling east in the 6100 block of Slauson Avenue when it stopped at a bus stop. Once the bus stopped, the suspect approached the victim and shot him.

The suspect exited the bus before fleeing on foot. Deputies searched the area and found the suspect near the intersection of Peachtree Street and Eastern Avenue. He was taken into custody and a firearm was recovered.

The identities of the victim and suspect are not being released at this time. No other details are available.
