The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced that its homicide detectives are investigating a shooting. LASD says detectives responded to the 11000 block of Shasta Circle in Cerritos to investigate after a homeowner shot a residential burglary suspect.

The incident occurred around 1:44 p.m. on August 17, 2024. The suspect was transported to an area hospital. LASD reports that the suspect is in extremely critical condition. No other details are available at this time.
