The Longview Police Department has announced an arrest in a recent shooting. According to LPD, officers responded to a shooting at the EZ Mart Convenience Store at 700 Gilmer Road around 3:40 a.m. on March 22, 2024. At the scene, responding officers discovered an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim’s injuries are life-threatening.

The victim was transported to an area hospital by private vehicle. Detectives say they identified 20-year-old Tykiron Mumphrey of Gladewater as the suspect in the shooting. An arrest warrant was obtained for Mumphrey charging him with Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury. He has been taken into custody.

LPD said the victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
