The Long Beach Police Department is investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred on 2nd Street. Around 1:06 a.m. on March 3, 2024, officers responded to the 5200 block of East 2nd Street for a reported stabbing. Officers were on the scene within two minutes. At the scene, officers found an adult male suffering from a stab wound to the upper body.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. In a later update, LBPD said homicide detectives had recovered security camera footage and identified the suspect responsible for the murder. According to a media release, it was confirmed that 29-year-old Brandon Nguyen was safely arrested at LAX Airport.

He was transported to the Long Beach City Jail. A search warrant was served on the suspect’s home. The victim is only being identified as a 20-year-old Long Beach resident.
