The Long Beach Police Department has announced an arrest in the murder of 17-year-old Briana Soto. LBPD reports that its Homicide Detectives have arrested 34-year-old Troy Lamar Fox in connection to the murder on March 26, 2024.
Detectives say they used DNA, video, and cellular phone evidence to identify Fox as the person responsible for the murder. Fox was already in the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on an unrelated weapons violation.
Detectives allege that Fox is a suspect in two other incidents. On April 9, 2024, officers responded to a shots call in the 1300 block of Pine Avenue. In the incident, the suspect fired a firearm in the direction of three juveniles and one adult in a vehicle.
On July 7, 2024, officers responded to a report of firearms in a vehicle in the area of 14th Street and Pine Avenue. Officers found Fox and a juvenile suspect and learned they were prohibited possessors. Authorities say two firearms were recovered from the suspects and four were found in the vehicle.
Authorities report that Fox was on Post Release Community Supervision. On September 10, 2024, search warrants were carried out. Authorities say they found a loaded, unregistered assault rifle in a residence in Long Beach. Detectives believe a different rifle was used in the April 9 shooting.
Fox was taken into custody on September 13 and is currently being held on $2,000,000 bail.
