The London Police Department in Kentucky is investigating a shooting at the Betty Jane Apartments. Around 7:52 p.m. on January 18, 2024, LPD officers learned that 25-year-old Cody Deaton had been shot at the Betty Jane Apartments. The victim was transported to St. Joseph Hospital before being released with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
At the scene, officers received information that the shooting, 20-year-old Brian Goforth, had fled behind the residence. Officers found his tracks and began following them through the snow. Dispatch received a call that a man was attempting to break into a vehicle on Mullins Avenue.
Officers continued following the tracks to the Wendy’s on South Laurel Road where they located and apprehended Goforth without incident. During a search of the experience, detectives say they found illegal narcotics, stolen items, and other drug-related items.
Goforth is charged with 1st Degree Assault, 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment, Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm), Receiving Stolen Property, Trafficking in Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
