The Logan Township Police Department said in a social media post that it had arrested a man following an active disturbance. On August 5, 2024, the Logan Township Police Department responded to 614 Rutgers Lane for an active disturbance.

At the scene, responding officers made contact with the victim who said the suspect, Mertcan Vardar, was witnessed in a 2nd story window racking a long rifle and making racial slurs.

He is also accused of threatening to kill the victim. Officers located and took Vardar into custody. The residence was secured until a search warrant could be approved. LTPD says several firearms were located and seized when the search warrant was executed.

Vardar was booked into the Blair County Prison. He is awaiting formal arraignment on charges of Ethnic Intimidation, Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault Physical Menace, and Harassment.
