The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a fellow deputy. LPSO reports that it received a complaint about a domestic disturbance in the Denham Springs area just after midnight on September 23, 2024.
Sheriff Jason Ard said in a statement that the Domestic Violence team also responded to the scene. It was learned that one round was fired from a personal weapon inside the residence during the incident.
No one was injured. 55-year-old Kelvin Higginbotham was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse and Illegal Use of a Weapon. Sheriff Ard also confirmed that the former deputy had been terminated from LPSO effective immediately.
Authorities say Higginbotham served part-time with the Marine Division since mid-2023. He also served as a Reserve Deputy. At this time, he remains in the Livingston Parish Detention Center.
