Limestone County Sheriff’s Office arrests Guatemalan man for allegedly abusing victim less than 12

Limestone County, Alabama – The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a 38-year-old Guatemalan man for allegedly abusing a child less than 12 years old.

According to an LCSO statement, deputies responded to a call regarding a suspect caught in the act of abusing a child less than 12 years old on January 19, 2025.

A deputy arrived at the scene and found that the victim’s family had detained the suspect after he was allegedly caught in the act of sexually abusing the child.

LCSO says the suspect was initially identified as Mario Francisco Martin. It was later determined that he was 38-year-old Luis Lopez-Martinez of Guatemala. The victim was transported to an area hospital.

Lopez-Martinez allegedly confessed to Sexual Abuse of a Child Less than 12 Years old during an interview with an investigator. He allegedly said, “it is what it is.”

He was booked with a $250,000 bond and Ice had placed an immigration detained on the suspect.
