Leopold Ettienne arrested after allegedly being found with shopping cart full of stolen mail

The Fort Pierce Police Department has arrested a man in connection with possible mail theft. According to a social media post from the Fort Pierce Police Department, officers responded to the 2600 block of Sunrise Boulevard after a report of possible mail theft. Officers were informed that a man was observed pushing a cart and taking mail from mailboxes.

Officers spotted a man matching the suspect’s description at the corner of Virginia Avenue and Sunrise Boulevard. The suspect has been identified as 68-year-old Leopold Ettienne. Officers spoke to Ettienne and witnessed a shopping cart containing mail from addresses on Sunrise Boulevard, Colonial Road, Citrus Avenue, and Orange Avenue.

Authorities say the United States Postal Inspection Service was notified. The case will be reviewed for federal prosecution. Work will begin to return the mail to their rightful owners. Ettienne was transported to St. Lucie County Jail where he has been charged with Larceny.
