Laurens Police investigating fatal shooting and non-fatal shooting

The Laurens Police Department reports that it responded to a domestic violence incident that led to one death. According to LPD, officers responded to reports of a shooting on East Public Square around 2:03 p.m. on December 3.

Police say officers discovered that the incident stemmed from domestic violence between two individuals who were previously married.

Police say the male suspect, 40-year-old Justin Sherman Allen, was found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. LPD says two firearms were found near Allen’s body.

According to LPD, the female victim was found in a neighboring room with gunshot wounds. The female victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. LPD says it was determined that Allen had been arrested on December 2 for domestic violence by the Lauren County Sheriff’s Office.

He was reportedly released on December 3 with no bond.
