The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office announced that a driver had been arrested at a crash site on Old Whitley Road. A deputy with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office arrested 36-year-old John Spears of London on December 22, 2023 around 9:57 p.m.

Spears was taken into custody on Old Whitley Road near London after a deputy was dispatched to a crash in which a vehicle hit a utility pole and wrecked into a yard on KY 1006. At the scene, the deputy conducted an investigation and detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver.

The driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense. Spears was booked into the Laurel County Correction Center.
