Update – LVMPD has provided an update in the officer-involved shooting which will be the 10th of 2023. Around 9:27 p.m. on December 28, 2023, officers were informed of a stolen vehicle near the 1800 block of West Charleston Boulevard. Officers witnessed the vehicle in a drive-thru lane at a fast-food restaurant and attempted to stop the vehicle.
Police say the passenger side door opened and a male exited the vehicle. A foot pursuit was initiated with the suspect fleeing on foot to the 1700 block of West Charleston Boulevard. LVMPD said the suspect produced a firearm leading to officers discharging their weapons. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the stolen vehicle was taken into custody.
Original Story – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting. At this time, police say eastbound and westbound West Charleston Boulevard is closed between I-15 and Shadow Lane.
Police have also shut down Wellness Way between Martin Luther King and Shadow Lane. These areas will be closed as the investigation continues. Locals are asked to avoid these areas.
