Las Cruces Police investigating two double homicides in less than 11 hours

The Las Cruces Police Department is investigating two double homicides that occurred in less than 11 hours. LCPD reports that the first homicide occurred around 12:30 a.m. on June 23, 2024 near the intersection of Avenida del Sol and Cortez Drive.

The preliminary information suggests that a 26-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were shot while inside their vehicle at the intersection. The male victim succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene.

The female victim was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased. A 15-year-old girl in the backseat suffered minor injuries from shrapnel. LCPD says it is following leads on who may be responsible.

Around 11 a.m. on June 23, 2024, LCPD officers responded to a home in the 1100 block of Wofford Drive in reference to two deceased men. It is believed that a 45-year-old man killed his 88-year-old father and his 51-year-old brother.

The 45-year-old man is in custody at this time. No other details are available.
