The Las Cruces Police Department is investigating after a man was found fatally shot in an undeveloped area near North Las Cruces Park. LCPD reports that it is investigating the death of 35-year-old Juan Diego Martinez whose body was found Saturday morning off Valley View Avenue.
Around 7 a.m. on June 8, 2024, LCPD officers responded to 1001 Valley View Avenue after a passerby found a man unresponsive. Police reached the scene and found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The victim, Juan Diego Martinez, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting. No other details are available at this time.
