Las Cruces Police arrest two men in two separate shootings

The Las Cruces Police Department announced on social media that it had arrested two men in connection to two separate shootings. 30-year-old Sergio Guadalupe Jaquez is accused of shooting and critically injuring a man at an apartment on South Telshor Boulevard on June 23.

Jaquez was apprehended at the port of entry in Santa Teresa, New Mexico on July 8, 2024. Jaquez is charged with Aggravated Battery Causing Great Bodily Harm, Violating Terms of His Probation, Violating Terms of his Parole, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

He is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center with no bond. The victim of the shooting is still in the hospital. 28-year-old John Alexander Moreno was arrested in connection to Sunday’s shooting that injured an 18-year-old man on North Alameda Boulevard.

Moreno was arrested on Sunday evening. He is charged with Aggravated Battery Causing Great Bodily Harm and Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle. Moreno is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center without bond.
