The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update in the officer-involved shooting in Fort Collins. On February 7, 2024, Fort Collins Police responded to a report of a suspicious, armed individual. At the scene, officers located the suspect who was later identified as Colten Sirio.
LCSO said officers recognized Sirio as the suspect in an incident two days prior. He was wanted on felony charges including Theft, Possession of Weapon by a Previous Offender, Criminal Mischief, and Domestic Violence. Sirio was reportedly armed with a handgun and was behaving in a threatening manner toward a woman with two small children in a stroller.
LCSO said Sirio refused to follow officer commands and walked away with the victims. One officer fired their weapon hitting Sirio. The woman, children, and officers were not injured. Sirio was transported to the hospital and released on February 9. He has been booked into the Larimer County Jail on his warrant and the following charges.

- 3 Counts Second-Degree Kidnapping
- 3 Counts Menacing
- Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender
