Large fight at Shrewsbury Lanes leads to two officers being injured

Two police officers were injured after responding to a large fight at Shrewsbury Lanes. The Shrewsbury Police Department reports that its officers responded to a physical fight involving approximately ten people in the parking lot of Shrewsbury Lanes at 7202 Weil Avenue around 7:41 p.m. on July 20, 2024.

At the scene, two marked patrol cars arrived and stopped with their emergency lights activated. Officers did not know that the main suspect had entered a vehicle and was getting ready to leave.

SPD alleges that the suspect rammed both occupied police vehicles while attempting to leave the parking lot. Officers attempted to take the suspect into custody. SPD alleges that the suspect physically resisted and struck one officer in the face.

The man was eventually taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor scrapes from the auto incident. The suspect is being held pending application of in-custody felony warrants through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Two officers suffered minor injuries.
