The Los Angeles Police Department has announced it is searching for the individual responsible for stabbing a man to death. Newton Area patrol officers responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon around 3:45 PM on December 12, 2023 near the 2400 block of South Flower Street.
Once officers arrived, they located a 27-year-old male suffering from stab wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Authorities identified the victim as 27-year-old Jalil Sosa Illera.
Detectives say the investigation revealed that the suspect and Illera were involved in an altercation on an MTA train. At one point, the suspect stabbed the victim causing his death. The suspect is described as a Filipino or Hispanic who stands 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8 inches and weighs approximately 160 pounds.
At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing glasses, a black sweat with white lettering, light blue jeans, and black shoes. Anyone with information is asked to contact Homicide Division detectives at 213-996-4144.
