Lakeland Police arrest former employee for armed robbery at South Florida Avenue McDonald’s

The Lakeland Police Department has arrested a 33-year-old woman in connection to an armed robbery at the McDonald’s at 2835 South Florida Avenue. LPD reports that officers responded to the restaurant for an armed robbery around 12:09 a.m. on June 9, 2024.

LPD says a masked female entered the business with a handgun and note. The suspect forced the employees to the back of the business and took their cell phones. The suspect took a green bank bag with cash, returned the cell phones, and left the restaurant.

LPD says the victims recognized the suspect as a former employee based on her stature and mannerisms. Responding officers gathered information about the accused, 33-year-old Iesha Williams.

A short time later, Williams was found driving a burgundy Dodge Charger in the Heritage Landing’s subdivision. LPD says Williams had changed clothes, but the clothing and mask used during the robbery were still in the vehicle.

Authorities also say the money, money bag, and firearm were also found inside Williams’s automobile. During an interview, Williams allegedly confessed to the robbery. Williams has been charged with Robbery with a Firearm, four counts of Armed Kidnapping, and four counts of Tampering in the 1st Degree.
