Update – Around 3:20 PM on December 13, 2023, KPD officers responded to a call regarding a shooting victim at 218 East Depot Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a man beside a box truck who had at least one gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

KPD said the suspect had left the area before officers arrived. A suspect has not been positively identified or arrested, but detectives are pursuing active leads.

Knoxville Police Department responded to Depot Street to investigate a report of a shooting after 5:00 p.m. on December 13, 2023. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound(s).

During the investigation, homicide detectives believe the incident is a “targeted shooting”.

The suspect had fled the scene before the responding officers arrived.

The investigation is ongoing.
