Update – KPD has provided an update in the officer-involved shooting in Fountain City on Wednesday. KPD said in a media release that an officer responded to a report of a man causing a disturbance inside the Exxon at 5306 North Broadway around 5 p.m. on April 17, 2024.
The man was reportedly acting erratically and potentially aggressively. An officer reached the scene around 5:30 p.m. and was allegedly confronted by the man who was armed with two knives. KPD says the officer fired at the man at least once and hit him at least once.
The man was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will lead the investigation.
