The Kinston Police Department is investigating a double shooting that occurred on Friday night. KPD officers responded to the 300 block of South McDaniels Street around 8:50 p.m. on September 20, 2024.

At the scene, officers found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS responded to the scene and transported both victims to UNC Lenior for treatment. Authorities say 25-year-old Korie Williams was pronounced deceased on the way to the hospital.

18-year-old Yameek Coward was transported to ECU Health. Investigators responded to assume control of the investigation. No other details are available at this time.
