Kent Police investigating vehicular homicide that killed a 41-year-old man

The Kent Police Department is currently investigating a vehicular homicide that killed a 41-year-old man. KPD reports that officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 23000 block of 100 AV SE around 11:35 p.m. on July 13, 2024.

The owner called 911 to report she had found the stolen Hyundai Sonata in a nearby apartment complex and that it was occupied by two individuals. An officer responded and managed to confirm it was the vehicle in question.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver eventually sped away and traveled southbound on 104th AV SE. The driver of the stolen vehicle crashed into an occupied Honda Civic near the 26100 block of 104th AV SE.

The driver of the victim vehicle sustained major injuries. The 41-year-old Auburn man was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries days later. The suspect driver fled on foot and has yet to be identified.

A 14-year-old passenger was the only occupant of the stolen vehicle. She was found with a significant injury to her leg. KPD says the girl only said that the driver was a male teenager. KPD’s Traffic Unit responded to investigate.
