The Kent Police Department has announced the sentences of two homicide cases from 2021. On the evening of January 7, 2021, 41-year-old Jovan Satterwhite was murdered. KPD says the victim was shot in the head while in his vehicle near 235th Pl and 88 Avenue S.
The suspect fled the scene. Marcus B Williams was later identified as the suspect and arrested. Williams has been sentenced to 38 years in prison after being convicted of Murder in the 2nd Degree, two counts of Drive By Shooting, and two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
On the evening of March 21, 2021, 27-year-old Avery Wilcox was murdered in a parking lot in the 10400 block of Southeast Kent Kangley Road. KPD says members of his family were present when Wilcox was shot in the head.
Following an investigation, KPD detectives identified the shooter as Anthony “Freeway” Dexter Ford Sr who was arrested on June 22, 2021. Ford pleaded guilty to Murder in the 1st Degree, Assault 4, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Ford was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
