Kent County Sheriff’s Office investigating drowning of 44-year-old man at Versluis Park

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the drowning of a Kentwood man at Versluis Park on Saturday. Just after 6 p.m. on September 21, 2024, KCSO deputies responded to the park for a water emergency.

KCSO says the preliminary information suggests that the man went into the water beyond the swim area and did not resurface. The Dive Team responded to the scene. A Good Samaritan managed to recover the man from the water.

Authorities took life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene. No other details are available at this time.
