State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced that Keith Keglar Jr. had pleaded guilty in the slaying of Tevin Robinson. A press release explains that Keglar pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and unlicensed carrying of a concealed firearm. He faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years to life in Florida State Prison.
Keglar will be sentenced during the week of January 29, 2024. Authorities say a security guard found Tevin Robinson suffering from a gunshot wound inside his vehicle in a shopping plaza on Dunn Avenue on January 2, 2022. Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office deputies were sent to the scene.
Robinson was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Detectives found two phones inside the vehicle. Authorities say Robinson’s phone had a record of a Snapchat video call that night with Keglar that lasted roughly 35 minutes. The second phone was registered to Keglar and had a record of the same call.
Surveillance video from a nearby business reportedly showed Keglar walking to a parking lot and waiting for Robinson to arrive. Once Robinson arrived, Keglar approached his vehicle and spoke to him briefly before getting into the car. After about ten minutes, there is a flash and Keglar flees the scene.
During Keglar’s arrest, authorities found a gun in his backpack. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement firearm analysis indicated the gun was the one used to shoot Robinson.
